/subscribe <place> p as in permanent lets you stay in places even when you log out. This is different from /detach which leaves you in all places at once. When you come back you may find yourself with a huge lastlog (you may want to tune its size) or in the case of a symlynX server you will have room conversations forwarded to you by e-mail.
