A place is a multicast context focused on providing person entities all around the network with a chatroom experience, or anything that has a similar requirement. Anyone in the network can request to enter a place, but the place entity will decide whether to allow this new member in.

The place identification entity in PSYC is a manager object which handles not only chatrooms but also newsfeeds or other kinds of group congregations of other entities, usually persons.

The place entity implements all necessary commands described in the PSYC user manuals attributed to places depending on the purpose of the place.

Like any entity, both persons and places use uniforms for addressing.

Since one of the most enticing aspects of PSYC is to set-up custom places, we have a large document on how to create places.
